Whilst a child Master Danny trained and competed in Judo at schools level and at 12 years old locally in Shotokan Karate and participated in London Youth Games - Crystal Palace & semi-contact tournaments. In that time and with a disqualification in a bout for knocking down an opponent with a body punch, an art more full contact was sought. In 1985 and at the same time training as a fighter in London ABA's amateur boxing under the guidance of Peter Kent at Lonsdale Gym Master Danny gained Thai Boxing experience there initially as well with Bill Judd of KO Gym. The early martial arts passion and natural boxing ability seemed to fuse together perfectly in Thai Boxing, hence its attraction. From 1987 he then continued Thai Boxing training to fight at a novice and c class level. With the desire to carry on practicing and improving whilst studying he began Instruction at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston with a few enthusiastic students. It soon turned into the most successful martial arts society at the University with many student members - it was UK's Universities first MuayThai Society. At the same time he also worked as a bouncer to pay his way through study. After completing his degree Master Danny continued teaching small groups and individuals (especially Trevor McCook, Errol Ried, Mike Slater, Dips Dhillon, Jay Dhillon) from 1988 thereafter forming a club at West Middlesex Hospital Social Club in 1989. Having to move because of housing development, Seconds Out Boxing Club at Ealing Northern Leisure Centre, Sudbury Hill was the next club gym. Although the club was becoming popular, Master Danny felt there was much more to learn about authentic Muaythai as trained in Thailand by the best fighters and traditional Thai Martial Arts to be therefore able in turn to pass it on to existing and future students. Previously known as Dan's KO Gym, RukThai Camp was established by Master Danny & was blessed and given its name after personal tuition and attaining Official Kru Teacher Qualification by GrandMaster Woody in Manchester and the Royal Thai Government Ministry of Education and Dept. of Physical Education Bodies in 1994. first is 'Ruk' pronounced 'Rook' multiple meaning of 'Attack' 'Invade' 'Forward', 'Advance' and second pronounced 'Ruck' is a love and passion for the Thai culture and what it embraces, which as part of their heritage, includes MuayThai - and third 'Mak Ruk' is 'Thai Chess' & particularly the 'Check' move, thinking with strategy attacking, defending, countering in Thai Chess which MuayThai fighting, just like chess, is exactly that at a high level, a real mind game! We are very proud to have a camp name associated with such relevant, traditional and deep meanings for our Art of Muaythai and moreover honoured for it to have root from a world renowned GrandMaster. Master Danny has been teaching Muay Thai in and around West London for over 25 years and is appointed by the Royal Thai Government Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education Dept. of Physical Education and as the International Director of Thailand's Institute of Thai Arts & Culture (I.T.A.C) whose President is Grand Master Kriangsak (Krin) Grand Master Woody's brother. He is also registered on the Association Institute of Thai Martial Arts (AITMA) & Kru MuayThai Association Official International Register of Trainers for Muay Thai to be a safe and enjoyable martial art/sport for all. From 11yrs old semi contact, full contact, amateur, pro-amateur competition & exhibition fights, conducted many seminars & special courses and public event demonstrations inc Thai Festivals. Notable achievements include In 1996 Won 'BEST RAM MUAY' Ireland's first International Amateur Tournament and in 1998 presented by Thai Government a Muaythai Special International Promotion Award Sukhothai, Thailand He attained the coveted Official Kru Teacher Qualification by GrandMaster Woody and the Royal Thai Government Ministry of Education and Dept. of Physical Education Bodies in 1994, Kru Yai (Senior) in 1997 and promoted to Arjarn (Master) by GrandMaster Krin on DEC 4th 2005 and GrandMaster Phosowat Thailand FEB 11-17th 2006 (photo below). So much has happened since the historical and I may add memorable 1st Official Amateur World Championships in 1995 at the National Stadium in Bangkok , which also houses our Thailand Headquarters and training Camp NIMIBUT (where GM Woody is now in charge of living in Thailand). We returned with four silver medals and three bronze, England being second only to Thailand in the medals table out of 23 countries! Our objectives and goals were very clear.
We formed a skilled RukThai Camp demonstration team in 1994 to reach out and show the public SILAPA Traditional Muay Thai , Muay Boran, Sport/Ring Muay Thai as the authentic Art, who we are and what we represent. We continually perform at events around the country and Thailand , main events including:

We regularly hold high profile seminars with GrandMaster Woody (first to plant the seeds of the Art in this country and Europe along with Master Toddy about thirty five years ago) GMaster Krin, MRonnie Green and leading exponents from many countries to promote and enhance the authentic traditions of Muay Thai and Krabi-Krabong.
Such a series proved very successful and one of them coincided with the visitation to England by a Thailand Government delegation including the Deputy Minister of Education, ex Deputy Prime Minister (ex Senator) and Officers of the Office of the National Culture Commission and Dept. of Physical Education.
The RukThai Camp ( South England ) Thai Martial Arts Centre of Excellence , arranged demonstrations and played host for the delegation whose purpose of the visit was to see how their Art is practiced and promoted in main camps in the West to the highest standards as laid down by the Governing Body.
Needless to say they were delighted with what they saw. After we received presentations from the Ministers, the delegation were treated to a banquet held in their honour at the Thai Embassy in London . They then travelled to the then (International) Thai Martial Arts Centre of Excellence in Manchester , which housed the International Office by appointment of the Royal Thailand Government.
